Beneath the Missouri Coteau just south of the town of Eyebrow, Saskatchewan, the Aitken Family Farm is nestled gently amidst the prairie. The land was purchased by Bruce and Lorna Aitken in 1942, who farmed until 1969, raising 8 children on the farm. In 1969, after a short time away pursuing university and working, John returned to the farm. John and his wife Sandra raised four daughters: Sarah, Elissa, Hillary, and Brooke. Brooke returned to the farm after completing her BSc in Agriculture and MSc in Animal Behaviour at the University of Saskatchewan.

Today, the farm is primarily a beef and sheep operation, focused on utilizing forages to produce high quality animals and meat. Approximately 1900 acres are seeded to tame forages which complement the 500 acres of native prairie. We also lease another 1760 acres, which is a combination of native prairie and tame grassland.

Both the cattle and sheep operation are dedicated to producing quality meat, while still ensuring the well-being of the animals. The farm is also home to several dogs, cats, and a few pigs.

We work closely with West Bridgeford Meats, and market finished animals through this local operation. We are excited to be a part of a sustainable option for the surrounding area. Community revitalization has always been an issue close to the heart of our family and this venture is a clear illustration of the power of community.
